Melinda came to prominence on the Adelaide music scene when she won the SCALA FOOM Competition in 2001 for her emotive love ballad ‘In My Dreams’. She has since then released in 2006 her debut EP ‘For Your Life’, an offering of soft pop/rock and love ballads.

She is a singer songwriter who derives her inspirations from her passionate love affair with jazz music and contemporary artists. These include Miles Davis, Bill Evans, McCoy Tyner and female artists such as Diana Krall, Tori Amos, Natalie Merchant to name a few.

Her main motivating forces to write are her experiences of love and life and the passionate expression these bring to her music. She is currently furthering her studies in jazz and piano.

Melinda continues to write songs that inspire and move the soul. She is currently working towards recording a full length CD of her original material and just finished recording another 2 songs.

Supported by SCALA (songwriters, composers and lyricists association) she has been an active member since and enjoys a regular following at her live gigs wherever she plays.

Originally a 'Northern suburbs' girl, she now lives in western coastal Adelaide where she enjoys communing with the waves and the seaweed.

Well... where do i start...
I am an Australian, Adelaide based Artist, involved in writing and performing original Music for about 15 years.
I like watching videos, getting into Eastern Philosophy (Ohmmm), doing Yoga and eating vegetarian food - vegies rule!
I also recycle everything because waste is a waste.
In 1991 I entered SCALA'S Original Songwriting Competition at The Goolwa Folk Festival.

Since then I have been a prolific songwriter, entering numerous song competions and performing regularly at SCALA'S weekly original music venue.

My style ranges from Soft Pop, to Power Ballads, to Folk and Jazz tinged melodies.

I have recorded 2 EPs and am currently preparing to do a full length album.

What do you love to sink your teeth into? Vietnamese (especially cold rolls with peanut sauce please)

Lying on the beach getting tanned (with spf 30 of course!)

What artists/music inspire you the most?
Early Elton John-Captain Fantastic, Madman, Kind of Blue, Miles Davis, anything by Tori Amos and my favourite recently discovered wicked jazz pianist Jason Moran.
